Scott Storch has hit out at The Roots, claiming the group were “haters” after he began working with Dr. Dre.
Storch, who was a member of the Philadelphia rap group between 1993 and 1995 and made contributions to several albums afterwards, discussed his history with Questlove and co with controversial podcaster Patrick Bet-David.
The producer explained: “I started in The Roots and did a lot of the stuff for them, very underappreciated. I was the guy who, again, came up with a lot of the nucleus of what that shit was. And I left the group and was told that I was, like, the Pete Best of The Roots. You know, Pete Best is the guy that quit The Beatles.”
Storch continued: “Even my girlfriend broke up with me and said, ‘Oh, you fucked up’ and this and that. I was like, ‘No, I didn’t. I see bigger.’ I’m not gonna go on the road with a bunch of guys that don’t appreciate me and be like, ‘That’s the white guy who plays keys in The Roots.’ I’m the fucking guy coming up with all the shit.”
He went on to say: “In fact, they called me the white devil.”
Storch also accused the group of being “all haters” after he began working with Dre on his 2001 album.
The Roots are yet to respond to Storch’s comments.
Storch recently discussed how he made attempts to save DMX from drug addiction.
Reflecting on the time he and X lived together, Storch said: “It was like the blind leading the blind. I’m a coke addict and he’s a crack addict, and I’m trying to help him. I’m like, ‘[Snorts coke] you really need to get clean, man.’ What the fuck? I’m like, ‘You need to go to rehab.’
“So I convince him to avoid a jail sentencing for a charge he had or whatever. He went to rehab and was getting his shit together at a place where I had gone, but it didn’t really work for me. I had him there, I really did care about him, I wanted him off that shit. That was a faster suicide than I was even on.”
I remember The Roots way before Scott Stork got there.
Yea? What do you remember he was there since 93 when they dropped their first album. Roots was not able to break even locally so they moved to london where they recorded their first album with scott thats how they became popular in the first place
uhh, he’s on the first two albums, so I think you don’t remember the roots before him.
Why cant people talk in private? Scott bringing up stuff that happened in the 90’s. Either let it go or call Quest up and talk about it.
Very well said. I think the same thing often when stuff like this happens.
Yes he should have kept his white mouth shut. We must never admit that non-whites can be racist too. I bet if scott was black and The Roots other members white and they would have called scott the n-word you would be applauding dude for speaking out.
Hasbara Troll Factory in full effect, astroturfing the comments to push the anti-white narrative.
I don’t know what the problem is. The Roots went along and did there own thing without you and you went ahead and did you thing and f**ked it up. So who fault is that and why bring it up now? Carry On!!!
He’s a cokehead. You expect rational behavior from him?
@Tobin Frost He’s the Dame Dash of The Roots.
The Roots best albums were the ones he worked on. He actually had more success post Roots. He just had a drug addiction and wasted a lot of money, but overall he had more success. Questlove is a damn fool anyway, he had The City Girls and Sexxy Redd at his music festival
Best decision to leave the dusty bum ass Roots. Black Thought is amazing, but he was held back by their dork ass drummer. Kind of how RZA went nuts fucked up the Wu.
I remember in some other interview he also said that Roots would introduce him while going up on stage as the “white devil” and “cr4ck3r” in front of the audience. And mid-show between tracks would shout racial slurs at him on the mic so the audience could hear it. But i guess it’s all good this way around. Imagine if it was the other way around, Scott Storch would be have been cancelled a long ass time ago, his music removed from streaming platforms, a bunch of #metoo women would have appeared out of nowhere claiming he touch their peepee 20 years ago, etc etc.. it’s hilarious the double standards 🤣
Its always all good the other way around. All whites are potential predators. Don’t ever forget that!
they hate huwite people alrite
Woah. Not surprised these black supremacists were antisemitic towards mr. Storch here, totally not cool👎🏿
Pretty weird since The Roots became their Bamboozled Sambo characters by giggling with Jimmy Fallon for the last 10 years.
Yeah. So much for their black power bs. They became house n-words for paleface Fallon. Bunch of Uncle Tom ass n-words for real 💯
How tf does that add up when he worked on them on Tipping Point which dropped years after Dre’s 2001?
Scott Storch made The Roots what they are.
